When you’re committed to an outcome there are no excuses, no stories, no reasons not to achieve it. But if you’re interested in an outcome you will do what’s convenient. You’ll come up with excuses to support your convenience. So, are you committed, or interested?
If commitment means doing whatever it takes to achieve a goal (no matter what that goal is) then why do so many people break their New Year’s resolutions before February? Why do people not complete simple activities at work? Why is it so hard to see your kids soccer game? Because we now live in a world with unlimited excuses and reasons to not accomplish something. And when we see someone not fulfilling a commitment that they said they would we are too afraid to speak up. Welcome to 2018.
Until we can become a society where we believe in bettering ourselves and everyone around us, instead of taking the easy way out or pointing fingers at other people then we will continue to see the same results we currently have. Hence the reason I am writing this blog. This is my step 1 in changing that. And to really kick things off here is what I am committed to; for anyone who so chooses to read this PLEASE HOLD ME TO THESE COMMITMENTS! 1. I am committed to my wife and I will remain that way until the day I die. No excuses. 2. I am committed to taking my team to Italy. We WILL have an expansion office there. 3. I am committed to being the best dad I can possibly be, and I will be at whatever functions my future children choose to get involved with. These commitments are made with the mindset that nothing can stop me! So bring it on…..I’m going to do whatever it takes.
Food for thought: If you couldn’t speak something unless you were going to do it, would your vocabulary change? How quiet would you be? So, what are you going to say today? Tomorrow? Next year?
